Custodian

Our Client, a prestigious private school in Lawrenceville, is looking for a Custodian.  This is a full time, 5am-1pm, Monday thru Friday.   This position can be temp to hire for right candidate.  Pay is $18 an hour.

Responsibilities

1. Operate vacuum cleaners, auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, sweepers, burnishing machines, side-by-side low speed machines, weighted stone machines, wet/dry vacuums, air movers, and Kaivav bathroom cleaning machines 
2. Keep equipment in good working order. Immediately report defective equipment to supervisor
3. Clean all glass using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment
4. Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, metal surfaces, and trim using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment
5. Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators and elevator tracks, stairways, and locker rooms and other campus areas using correct techniques and chemicals
6. Empty trash receptacles daily, including feminine hygiene disposal containers, making sure that the container is clean and a new liner is provided. Sweep, dust mop, damp mop, scrub/strip and wax all hard floors, steps and stairways using proper chemicals and equipment
7. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using proper chemicals and equipment
8. Dusts all hard surfaces, furniture, and equipment. Polish metalwork
9. Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels, and sills
10. Clean chalkboards, erasers, and eraser trays using proper equipment
11. Empty wastebaskets. Place all recycling items in proper containers
12. Transport trash and waste to disposal area
13. Replenish bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap as needed
14. Clean custodian closet. Empty vacuum cleaner or change bag between half and three-quarters full, change belt as needed
15. Move furniture and other items within a building, as directed, to ensure proper cleaning. Set up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall
16. Must attend training and development classes and/or sessions as directed by Custodial Management
17. Maintain levels of attendance, punctuality, and appearance as required by departmental standards

Qualifications

This position is considered Essential Personnel and must be available during emergency situations when required. Essential personnel are required to be available for Snow Removal, Setups for Graduation, Alumni Weekend, Trash removal, etc.

• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends.
• Must have high school education or GED, up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
