BASIC FUNCTION: The Custodial is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Drive battery or propane powered industrial forklift equipped with fork for moving empty pallets, pallets of product, totes, equipment, etc. NATURE AND SCOPE: This position reports to the Operations Manager and cares for facilities and equipment. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public. The Warehouse Facility is an office which has three salaried and approximately thirty hourly staff personnel dedicated to supporting the adjoining Fry Processing plant along with approximately two other outside customers to fill our capacity of thirty-six million. The amount of processed product stored in our warehouse cold storage facility is 36 million pounds. The function of this position is to maintain inventory control, rotate the product and store and move it in the most economical manner, assuring customer delivery in quality condition. Warehousing procedures and policies must be executed on a daily basis such as sanitation, safety methods, temperature control, stacking methods and case condition. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Clean and care for buildings and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner. Main Activities: o Clean offices, meeting chambers and recreational facilities o Mop tile and concrete floor areas o Vacuum all carpeted areas o Dust all furniture and fixtures as required o Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures o Clean all mirrors o Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed o Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans daily o Place garbage in outside storage bin o Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware o Keep outside area near exit and entrance clear of snow, cans, paper, etc. o Clean, wash and disinfect drinking fountains o Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass o Clean kitchen sinks and counters o Report damages and acts of vandalism o Wash entrance and exit floors o Spot clean walls and toilet partitions 2. Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order to ensure the safety of staff and the public. o Main Activities: o Secure storage areas o Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner o Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies o Restock materials and supplies o Make note of the need for equipment repairs 3. Perform other related duties as required. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Maintain daily cleaning records. 2. Must maintain a good attendance record. 3. Must be able to perform simple mathematical, verbal and written communication skills. 4. Must be able to operate levers and pedals to control movement of the forks and other attachments. 5. Must be able to climb on and off a forklift. 6. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. 7. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision. 8. Must be able to work in zero degree storage. Warehousing experience in dry or cold environments helpful. 9. Professional Appearance and presentation skills. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment 2. Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System 3. Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products 4. Ability to work under little supervision.
