Assistant Manager Position

Under general direction, provides assistance and other support for a Project Manager including planning, design, communication, coordination and project resolution to ensure that construction project goals are met. PE will assist in overall planning and execution of the contracted scope of work including preparation and presentation of cost proposals, submittal and schedule management, project budget management, and maintenance of job cost reports. Assist in the review and approval of design and construction drawings, bid documents, pay applications, change orders, etc. Ability to read and understand construction drawings involving complex MEP systems and structural modifications within existing buildings. Work with accounting on reporting requirements including coordination of accounting accruals at month and quarter end, job cost reporting, internal management reports, and client billing.

Candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with a commercial general contractor with an ability to demonstrate project experience involving these skill sets:

  • Must have experience working on projects involving new construction or renovation of various types of office and/or laboratory environments. Demonstrate core technical knowledge of MEP systems within these various types of lab environments

  • Ability to read and interpret plans with thorough understanding of estimating concepts and system formats for preparing conceptual and final project budgets

  • BA/BS degree is preferred, but not required

  • Computer literate including proficiency with MS Office suite, Bluebeam and MS Project

  • Prior experience developing effective working relationships with vendors, contractors and tenants.

  • Ability to speak out in meetings, draft and write detailed notes, provide oral and written communications in a clear and concise manner. Prepare and distribute meeting minutes

  • Understanding of accounting systems, construction job costing and scheduling formats

  • Must be organized and task oriented, able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines, and adapt readily to changing priorities.
