SUMMARY: We are looking for a Payroll and Labor Compliance Specialist that will join our payroll team and make a positive impact in the processing of high volume, complex Certified Payroll. We are very interested in talking to candidates who have either recently graduated college in an Accounting / Finance / Business degree or can contribute at a higher-level capacity having had experience in similar payroll and compliance functions. 

In this role you will compile, process, and maintain accounting / payroll records.  It is important to ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll. You will participate in daily data entry, assist in payroll processing and assist with certified payroll reporting. Although the main function will be company Certified Payroll, you may also support with subcontract Certified Payroll as well. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily processing/exception-handling of electronic timecards and timekeeping application.

  • Frequent timecard issue resolution with employees and supervisors.

  • Inputting timecards and balancing batches.

  • Processing lay-off checks, Union Termination slips, and missed time checks as required.

  • Input new hires, W-4 changes, direct deposit changes.

  • Input wage withholdings and garnishments.

  • Mail payroll and distribute in office payroll checks.

  • Assist with union reporting and market recovery cards.

  • Assist with Certified Payroll reports, checking daily reports, website uploads and mailings.

  • Provide phone coverage as needed.

  • Support department by working other assigned duties.

  • Sort and route paperwork and reports to appropriate recipients.

  • Perform overtime work, as required and requested by supervisor, to meet department and company needs.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related degree preferred

  • 1+ year of experience in an administrative function performing work on the computer

  • Knowledge of Certified Payroll (CPR) a plus

  • Proven ability to understand California prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon reporting is a requirement and construction industry a plus

  • Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
