CIRCULATING RN

• DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide patient care using nursing knowledge and judgment.
2. Follow legal and policy limits of practice.
3. Promote teamwork and cooperation.
4. Respect patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
5. Ensure a safe and supportive environment.
6. Assess and address patients' physical and emotional needs.
7. Supervise non-professional nursing staff.
8. Be mindful of health care costs and conserve supplies.
9. Maintain accurate records, including controlled substances.
10. Attend meetings and training programs.
11. Participate in nursing committees.
12. Adhere to policies and procedures.
13. Report incidents and equipment issues.
14. Help with inventory counts and housekeeping as needed.
15. Document physician orders and maintain staff privileges.
16. Respond to emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, drug reactions).

Circulating Nurse Specific Duties:

1. Prepare surgical cases and verify patient identity in pre-op.
2. Follow aseptic techniques and position patients for comfort.
3. Apply required equipment (e.g., bovie pads, electrodes).
4. Maintain accurate intraoperative records and counts.
5. Label and care for specimens.
6. Administer and document medications.
7. Ensure room supplies are adequate and assist with stock management.
8. Update physician preference cards and ensure sterilization of instruments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed to practice in Oklahoma.
  • CPR and ACLS certifications.
• Experience:
  • Preferably two years of related nursing experience.
