Saw Operator
Nights 4pm-2:30am Mon-Thurs
Pay $17 per hour
Summary of Duties:
•
Perform setups on saws, includes setting feed rate, adjusting bar feeder, selecting optimal blades, adjusting for adequate guard width, and making coolant adjustment. Making sure correct material used is critical because of high cost of some materials, especially honed.
•
Operate one or more saws, cutting parts to required length. The required length may not be the part length on the print because we normally need to allow material so subsequent operations have adequate material to work with. Make sure parts are cut square, and material use is optimal.
•
Make sure material and cut parts are identified, and maintain any required material traceability.
•
Need to be licensed forklift driver and experienced in using overhead crane. Need to be knowledgeable of rigging long bar stock, use of slings, etc., to safely handle material, and inspection of slings.
•
Meet production output goals, insure quality of all cut parts, maintain production records, quality records, data logs, etc.
•
Read blueprints, routers, work orders, and inspection directions to determine job specifications and tolerances. Verify conformance of parts produced to specifications using precision inspection equipment, and record results.
•
Closely monitor assigned machine. Leaving assigned machine or not being alert to monitor the machine while it is running could cause scrap of expensive parts, expensive machine damage, or injury to you or other employees.
•
Follow all company policies, department standard operating procedures, safety procedures, quality procedures, ISO procedures, and any other verbal or written instructions.
•
Work in a safe manner, without endangering yourself or other employees. Coach any employee using unsafe practices, and/or alert the area supervisor, safety committee member, or member of management. Use all appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) for job.

Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays, to support production requirements.
