Temporary Dental Hygienist (6–7 Week Assignment)
Pay Range: $46–$63/hour DOE
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday


Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist for a temporary 6–7 week assignment. The Dental Hygienist will provide professional prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing, as well as fluoride treatments and patient education. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently while contributing to a collaborative dental team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with reception staff to schedule hygiene patients efficiently.

  • Review and update patient health and dental history forms.

  • Accurately chart periodontal health for each patient.

  • Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis, scaling, and polishing.

  • Conduct head and neck examinations.

  • Provide fluoride applications and oral hygiene education.

  • Counsel patients on nutrition, oral health, and smoking cessation.

  • Ensure patient comfort and communicate professionally at all times.

  • Document treatment notes accurately.

  • Maintain and organize instruments, trays, and supplies.

  • Monitor and uphold cleanliness of treatment and exam areas.

  • Collaborate effectively with all members of the dental team.

  • Follow HIPAA and infection control standards.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.

  • Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of practice.

  • 1–2 years of clinical dental hygiene experience.

  • Proficiency in providing prophylaxis and taking X-rays.

  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.

  • Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices.

  • Ability to comply with Sterilization & Infection Control practices.

  • Professional, reliable, and able to work independently.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Clinic environment with routine patient interaction.

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

  • Requires fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.

  • Exposure to standard clinical safety precautions.
