Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to manage and oversee the financial aspects of our client's construction projects. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate cost tracking, job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting to ensure the financial success and compliance of all construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain job cost records, ensuring accuracy in tracking project budgets, expenses, and profitability

Manage accounts payable and receivable specific to construction contracts and vendors

Collaborate with project managers to monitor budget vs. actual performance on all jobs

Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including WIP (Work in Progress) schedules

Assist in the preparation of project billing, including AIA billing and lien waivers

Ensure compliance with contract terms, change orders, and retainage agreements

Manage general ledger entries related to construction activities

Support month-end and year-end close processes

Work with external auditors, banks, and bonding agents as required

Assist with the preparation of financial forecasts and projections for upcoming projects
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry

Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting

Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Viewpoint, QuickBooks)

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AIA billing and construction contract structures

Experience with WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting
