About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our payroll department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 1,500 employees across multiple states. Your primary responsibilities will include managing multi-state tax filings, payroll tax compliance, and end-to-end payroll operations. Key Responsibilities:

Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees across multiple states, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy of employee records, earnings, and deductions prior to transmission.

Manage and file multi-state payroll tax returns, including income tax, unemployment, and other employer-related taxes.

Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to ensure timely deposit and filing of payroll taxes.

Stay current with evolving tax laws and regulations to maintain compliance in all payroll-related practices.

Address payroll-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate resolutions for employees and internal stakeholders.

Assist with quarter-end and year-end tax filings, including W-2 and 941 reconciliation.

Maintain and update payroll systems and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Support audits by providing necessary documentation for internal and external reviews.
Qualifications:

3+ years of payroll experience, with expertise in multi-state payroll tax filing and processing.

Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Oracle, Workday, Ceridian, Paylocity, etc.).

In-depth understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations and filings.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
