Instrument Control Technician
Superior Skilled Trades is seeking Instrument and Controls Technicians who are responsible for the daily electrical maintenance of heavy, moderately complex foundry and mill equipment in a manufacturing environment. Instrument and Controls Technicians maintain a wide variety of heavy industrial equipment used in the manufacturing of coiled aluminum sheet
Some of the roles and responsibilities of this position are:
• Read and interpret safety and work instructions both verbal and written to understand required specifications
• Inspect machinery to maintain specified parameters
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines
• Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes
• Operate a forklift, skid steer, mobile crane, bridge cranes, jib cranes, scissor lifts and articulating man lifts
• Review and assist with the creation schedule, work instructions, work logs and other company information by utilizing standard computer programs and e-mail
Requirement
Electronics Engineering Technology Degree
• Experience with 13.2, DC transformers from 12v to 1200v, 480 vac.
• Knowledge of Red Lion controls
Extensive knowledge in programming of PLCs
• Knowledge of Control Logix, Allan Bradley, Automax, Automate and Modicon
• Use of Fluke 289 multimeter (company provided), ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes.
• Knowledge of AC and reliance DC drives. Proficient with programming on VFDs
• Experience with replacing motor brushes on 1600 hp DC motors down to 5 hp.
• Knowledge of gas burners is essential.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical knowledge, ability and aptitude
• Perform shaft alignments using laser equipment to a +- tolerance of .001”
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
• Must be able to use and read precision tooling i.e., micrometers, dial indicators and calipers.
• Must be able to analyze and execute problem solving techniques to improve equipment reliability and availability as a team of skilled trade workers
