Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 2PM - 10:30PM
  • 6 Days of Week
  • Plus Overtime


Pay Rate

  • $21 / hour


Job Summary

We are seeking a Microbiologist to join our Quality Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting microbiological testing, sampling, and inspections. We are seeking someone who is a team player, quick to learn, and has a keen eye for detail. 


If you hold a B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology or a related food science field and have at least 3 years of experience in a microbiology lab, especially within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, this opportunity is ideal for you. Your role will involve conducting a variety of tests, inspections, and analyses on in-process samples and finished products to ensure they meet product specifications. Additionally, you will be instrumental in promoting a strong Quality and Food Safety Culture by highlighting the significance of Good Manufacturing Practices.


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine microbiological testing on in-process, incoming, and finished products. 
  • Perform air, water, and environmental sampling and testing. 
  • Assess samples and results for food safety and quality to ensure compliance. 
  • Provide technical expertise and conduct timely, accurate microbiological analyses. 
  • Oversee laboratory functions to ensure all required testing is performed according to sampling protocols and customer requirements. 
  • Review, record, and interpret data results, and notify authorized personnel of any out-of-specification results. 
  • Document lab test results on worksheets using Good Documentation Practices. 
  • Enter data for tracking and trending lab reports. 
  • Maintain filing and record-keeping systems. 
  • Adhere to GMP, GLP, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at all times. 
  • Train others in necessary functions and review their work for accuracy and compliance with procedures. 
  • Initiate and conduct deviation investigations and CAPAs related to microbiological testing. 
  • Utilize technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues in daily departmental operations. 
  • Maintain and monitor the inventory of quality control supplies and materials on a weekly basis. 
  • Create and update specifications, SOPs, and other operational documents as needed. 
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements 

  • A B.S./M.S. in microbiology or a related food science degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a microbiology lab, ideally in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. 
  • Proficiency in aseptic practices and techniques. 
  • Strong knowledge and application of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and microbiological methods. 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends. 
  • Ability to work in manufacturing and industrial environments. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Capability to lift up to 30 lbs. 
  • Excellent computer skills and strong organizational abilities
