Maintenance Mechanic

Staff Management Group is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our client in East Hanover, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.

• 3rd shift: 11PM - 7:15AM
• Plus Overtime

Pay Rate

• $32 / hour

Job Summary

We’re looking for a skilled Senior Mechanic to oversee the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of all packaging line equipment. This role also includes leading a team of 5 to 10 mechanics while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance across all production activities.

Job Responsibilities

• Set up packaging equipment using correct tooling and ensure lines run according to established specifications.
• Monitor and adjust machinery to maintain proper process parameters and minimize downtime.
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues to support continuous, high-quality production.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance to address packaging quality concerns and maintain compliance.
• Drive efficiency by reducing waste and optimizing machine performance.
• Accurately complete all required equipment logs and production documentation.
• Provide hands-on training and support to machine operators.
• Assist supervisors in maintaining compliance with cGMP, OSHA, and DEA standards.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed on the production floor and packaging lines.
• Oversee line clearance procedures and verify authorization for production restart.
• Apply knowledge of PLC systems, automation, and packaging machinery, including inkjet printers, blister machines, fillers, cartoners, and vision systems.
• Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, or line enhancements.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Job Requirements 

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of experience in a packaging mechanic role or similar environment.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-output packaging facility.
• Proficient in reading and writing English.
