Job Duties
- Interpret Blueprints: Study and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding techniques and procedures.
- Prepare Materials: Select and prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal components.
- Operate Welding Equipment: Set up and operate welding equipment, such as arc welders, gas welders, and plasma cutters, in compliance with safety standards and welding procedures.
- Perform Welding Techniques: Perform various welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and oxy-acetylene welding, to join metal components with precision and accuracy.
- Inspect Welds: Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards, including checking for defects and performing necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing appropriate protective gear and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work collaboratively with other team members, such as fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to plan and execute welding projects efficiently.
- Document Work: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including materials used, time spent on projects, and any relevant observations or issues encountered.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in welding technology, and best practices to enhance skills and improve welding techniques.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
- Proven experience as a welder, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and oxy-acetylene welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to welding operations.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform welding tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in various positions for extended periods.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds with precision and accuracy.
- Effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot welding issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors and other stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) are advantageous.
- Ability to life and or move up to 50+lbs throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to stand ,walk, bend and stoop.
- Ability to use hands to finger ,handle and feel.
- Specific vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
- Ability to understand and communicate(talk-read-hear)work instructions.
