Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review, post, and audit general ledger entries from cash receipts, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Accurately enter standard monthly journal entries and reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of bank accounts in a timely manner.
  • Assist in creating and distributing accounting standard operating procedures, training, and reference materials for internal customers.
  • Support and train department staff on accounting functions such as Microix and credit card portal systems.
  • Process Washington State sales tax reporting.
  • Manage and maintain fixed asset records in MIP/Abila.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with process improvements, year-end closing tasks, external audit support, and overall department efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Associate degree (or equivalent) in accounting required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience required, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Previous experience with accounting software or Abila (MIP) preferred.

Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles; non-profit experience preferred.
  • General understanding of payroll processes, FLSA rules, earnings, and tax/benefit deductions.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills (import/export data files), intermediate Word skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail- and deadline-oriented with a track record of accuracy and quality control.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Abilities

  • Problem-solving mindset; able to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Skilled at gathering and analyzing information.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and teams.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within multiple teams.

License & Certification

  • None required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Onsite attendance is essential.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Office environment with long sedentary periods and repetitive wrist/arm movement.
