Field Service Technician

A well-established global manufacturer specializing in mechanical drive systems is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician for a full-time role based in Elgin, IL. This position involves nationwide travel to support customers with on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial gear drives and related equipment. It’s an excellent opportunity for a mechanically experienced professional looking to join a stable, industry-leading company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform on-site service and maintenance for gear drives and transmission systems

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions

• Disassemble and inspect components, document findings, and prepare reports

• Work directly with customer personnel during field assignments

• Operate tools and equipment including cranes, forklifts, presses, and power tools

Requirements:

• 10+ years’ experience in power transmission, heavy equipment, or wind gearbox systems

• 5+ years in a field service or similar hands-on technical role

• Strong mechanical skills; able to read blueprints and technical documents

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Able to travel frequently, including weekends and short notice

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred:

• MSHA Part 46/48 certification

• Wind energy or military/industrial maintenance background

• Crane and rigging experience
