POSITION – Powder Coat Technician

JOB LOCATION – Spooner, WI

STARTING DATE – Immediately

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – 1st Shift (6am-4:30pm, Mon-Thurs) OT depends on business needs.

STARTING PAY – $17-18/hour Depending on experience

EDUCATION– HS Diploma or Equivalent preferred, but not required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – 1 to 3 years related experience in a metal fabrication setting preferred

We are seeking a Powder Coat Technician I responsible for preparing parts for the powder coating process, which includes tasks such as hanging, washing, plugging, scrubbing, taping, and sanding substrates.  

Responsibilities

• Perform oven and wash bay operations, including routine maintenance tasks

• Operate a forklift and carry out basic maintenance duties

• Report quality issues, equipment malfunctions, and material concerns to the Supervisor

• Pack parts for shipment carefully to prevent damage

• Follow all safety protocols and site regulations

• Participate in ongoing training for the powder coating application process

• Retain job-specific knowledge and apply it consistently

• Identify and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or design team

• Keep work area and equipment clean, organized, and in compliance with safety procedures

• Perform quality checks and inspections according to documentation and control plans, including proper recordkeeping

• Actively engage in continuous improvement efforts related to safety and quality standards

• Adhere to the site's attendance policy

• Support other departments or tasks as needed

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant experience may be accepted in place of a formal degree

• Ability to read and understand documents such as safety guidelines, blueprints, memos, and basic instructions

• Familiarity with basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
