Job Title: Utility Advocate (Enrollment Specialist)
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday, with flexibility for some evenings or Saturdays
Pay: $20 per hour
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Utility Advocate to join our Enrollment Services team. Under the supervision of the Enrollment Services Lead, this role provides case management, outreach, and advocacy services to low-income energy consumers. The ideal candidate is bilingual and passionate about serving the community through both in-office and in-the-field work, including home visits and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
Interview applicants to gather and verify information for energy assistance applications
Provide case management services for low-income clients
Offer advocacy and support to help clients access energy-related programs
Make group presentations at local community organizations
Conduct outreach to engage potential applicants and increase awareness
Visit homebound individuals to assist with services
Maintain accurate and complete case files
Submit timely and accurate monthly reports
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred coursework in business administration, accounting, computer science, or social work
At least two years of relevant experience that includes:
Interviewing clients to collect or verify personal and financial information
Performing basic math and data review
Interpreting and applying rules or regulations
Reviewing forms for accuracy and completeness
Computer proficiency and comfort using internet-based platforms
Ability to speak and write clearly and professionally
Must be at least 95 percent accurate in data entry
Flexible to work some evenings or Saturdays when needed
Must be able to sit and perform computer work for extended periods
May require valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, auto insurance, and a good driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish (or another second language commonly spoken in the community)
Experience working in social services or public-facing support roles
Strong public speaking skills and confidence presenting to groups
