RPM Staffing is seeking an experienced 2nd shift sit down forklift operator in Denton, Texas!
The Sit-Down Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a sit-down forklift to move, stack, load, and unload pallets of dry goods (flour, sugar, grains, packaged products, etc.) within a fast-paced food-grade production and warehouse environment. This role ensures accurate inventory movement, supports production lines, and maintains a clean, safe workspace in compliance with FDA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling
- Load and unload trailers with finished goods, raw materials, and packaging supplies.
- Transport pallets between production lines, storage racks, and shipping/receiving areas.
- Stack pallets up to [specified height, e.g., 20 ft] in racking systems using safe stacking practices.
- Inventory Accuracy
- Scan and verify pallet tags/labels using RF scanners or warehouse management system (WMS).
- Stage materials for production runs based on pick sheets or supervisor instructions.
- Report damaged goods or discrepancies immediately.
- Safety & Compliance
- Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections (battery, propane, tires, forks, hydraulics) and complete checklists.
- Wear required PPE (hard hat, steel-toe boots, high-visibility vest, safety glasses).
- Follow lockout/tagout, pedestrian safety, and food safety (GMP) protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Charge electric forklifts and change propane tanks as needed.
- Report mechanical issues promptly to maintenance.
- Housekeeping
- Keep aisles, dock areas, and rack bases clear of debris, shrink wrap, and spills.
- Sweep up minor dry goods spills (flour dust, sugar granules) to prevent slip hazards.
Qualifications
- Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of recent sit-down forklift experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Valid forklift certification (OSHA-compliant) or ability to obtain within 7 days of hire.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and maneuver loads up to 3,000 lbs.
- Basic math and reading skills; ability to follow written/verbal instructions.
- Preferred
- Experience in food-grade or dry goods environments (knowledge of allergen segregation a plus).
- Familiarity with RF scanners and WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, RedPrairie).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
