The Assembler is responsible for assembling, finishing, and preparing aluminum castings and related components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role requires the use of various tools and equipment, the ability to read and interpret technical documents, and a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and productivity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assemble parts into semi-finished or finished items per specifications and blueprints.
- Operate hand grinders, pneumatic tools, welding equipment, calipers, scales, tape measures, and other electric or air-operated tools.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, bills of materials, and inspection documents.
- Perform accurate mathematical calculations and precise measurements.
- Correctly install components such as bolts, head locks, washers, and nuts according to blueprint instructions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Consistently follow written and verbal instructions, work standards, and Quality Work Instructions (QWIs).
Advanced Responsibilities:
- Prepare castings and assemble railroad track frog unit components.
- Perform welding tasks and operate as a Level and Line Bender and/or Finish Grinder.
- Attach rails, castings, and blocks with bolts and lock pieces; grind and weld as needed for alignment and proper fit.
- Assemble rails and switch rods with precision according to specifications.
- Transfer and position machined rails using work racks, deburring parts with grinders as required.
- Operate and monitor two or more production lines simultaneously.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new employees in assembly processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with hand tools, measuring devices, and power equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
