Metal Assembling job duties: 

-Metal products partially or completely, working at bench or on shop floor.

-Polishes, buffs and deburs steel and stainless steel articles. 

-Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints. 

-Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners. 

-Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and electric tools to remove imperfections and produce close fit between parts. 

-Operates riveting machines to assist in assembly operation. 

-Secures work piece to bench or table and guides abrasive polishing wheel over work piece to remove scratches and other defects from metal surface. 

-Moves buffing brush over surfaces of work piece to remove fine scratches and to achieve specified finish.


Assembling Wood job duties:

-Wood assembling, finishing, storing, cleaning, and shipping wooden crate products by performing the following duties. 

-Stacks lumber or wood products on floor or in bins to supply machine operators or assemblers. 

-Use of hand held air hammers and other air powered tools to insert nails, brackets and wood parts together. 

-Nails together lumber for cutting, and places lumber on machine table. 

-Dismantles crates and removes nails and other metal from wooden parts to salvage material. 

-Apply filler, putty, or other material to fill wood pores, holes, cracks, or other indentations. 

-Removes paint, lacquer, and other finishes from wood products and sands rough spots to prepare surfaces for finishing.

-Places articles on wire racks, cord, or hooks preparatory to dipping. 

-Dips article into vats to coat them with paint or preservative or other ingredients. 

-Brushes surfaces with glue preparatory to covering surfaces with leather, paper, or other materials. 

-Examines materials and products for defects, finish, and grade, and accuracy of dimension and matching panels. 

-Stamps grade on product and weighs and records units processed and inspected. 

-Loads and unloads materials from pallets, trucks and racks and moves material to designated areas.
