Compensation and Schedule:
Compensation: $22.00 per hour + $1.00 overnight shift premium + $1.00 weekend premium
Work Hours: 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Work Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and every other weekend

Role Overview:
The butter maker will be a key player in Organic Valley’s overnight production team, turning quality cream into rich, delicious butter. From monitoring cream inventories to ensuring top-tier cleanliness and safety, this role blends craftsmanship with food science. You’ll operate and maintain equipment, run quality control tests, and contribute to Organic Valley’s mission to make the world a healthier place for people, animals, and the planet.
Key Responsibilities Include:
As a butter maker, you’ll transfer cream to the churn, operate production equipment, and monitor quality at every stage. You’ll also complete sanitation tasks, keep precise records, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This includes conducting standardized testing on butter samples for texture, flavor, moisture, and color and assisting with cleaning and sanitizing machines and tools.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
To succeed as a butter maker, you should pay strong attention to detail, maintain physical stamina, and ideally have some food manufacturing or sanitation experience. A butter maker’s or grader’s license is preferred, or be willing to obtain one. Proficiency in basic computer systems, especially Microsoft Office, is a plus. You should also be capable of frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs with assistance) and using material handling equipment.
