Our client, a local CPA firm, is looking for a Tax Manager to join their team. The Tax Manager will report directly to the partners/principals and be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, preparation, research, and review process of federal, state, and local tax returns for both individuals and businesses and provide guidance and leadership to staff members.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Managing a team of accountants and bookkeepers

Assigning tax returns and bookkeeping projects to preparers and tracking progress to ensure on-time completion, while guiding less experienced team members in completing their tasks

Supporting, training, and developing the technical knowledge and skills of direct reports in all aspects of tax return and financial statement preparation

Actively participating in daily production meetings with your team, weekly tactical check-ins on project statuses

Reviewing business and individual tax returns, financial statements, and related working papers to document and substantiate completed work, ensuring quality, clarity, and completeness

Preparing the firm’s more complex tax returns, tax planning figures and analysis

Researching topics new to you to self-teach accurate related tax form preparation

Assisting Client Manager with technical topics

Support the Client Manager with analyzing sales leads in terms of reviewing their previously filed tax returns and bookkeeping to help with determining project scope and pricing

Qualifications:

7–15+ years of experience in public accounting in tax preparation and technical review

Experience in public accounting managing tax preparers and project schedules

Bachelor’s Degree with preferred major in Accounting or related field

CPA or EA designation
-
High-level proficiency in reviewing and finalizing returns for S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, and Individuals

Detailed technical knowledge including, but not limited to, shareholder, AAA, and partner basis rules, NOL, passive activity, and related party loss rules, property sales, including capital gains, depreciation recapture, installment sales, like-kind exchanges, common elections, credits, and tax minimization strategies, and self-rental rules

Pay = $90-120k (DOE)
