Job description

As a Die Cast Machine Operator, you will be a vital part of our manufacturing team, utilizing your core skills in blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and precision measuring instruments to operate die cast machines efficiently. Your premium skills in CNC programming, CAD, and press brake machine operation will enable you to produce high-quality parts with precision. Additionally, your relevant skills in materials handling, fabrication, and quality control will ensure that production runs smoothly and meets quality standards. Essential Functions

  • Follow prescribed Safety Regulations and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read and understand data sheets, gages, work instructions, set up sheets etc.
  • Perform daily paperwork requirements and fill out timecards accurately.
  • Ability to identify defects and understand the level of quality that the project demands.
  • Report any machine problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain housekeeping for machine and area at the end of your shift or before moving to another operation.
  • Set up and operate die casting machine to cast zinc parts: Lifts specified die sections into machine, using chain fall or hoist.
  • Bolts die section in position and adjusts stroke of ram, using hand tools.
  • Consistently operates cast machine and trim press to expected cycle times.
  • Turn valves and set dials to regulate flow of water circulating through die and to control speed of machine, based on size and structure of part being cast and temperature of metal being used.
  • Hand spray dies with release agent as instructed to prevent stuck parts and solder.
  • Blow metal fragments from die surfaces, using air hose, and brushes lubricant into die cavity and onto leader and ejector pins.
  • Monitor the die and machine for abnormal conditions, correct if possible and notify Supervisor if necessary.
  • May dip castings in water to cool them.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Perform basic maintenance to machines and dies as instructed to maintain production uptime.
  • Inspect castings for defects, properly re-melting scrap castings adding flux as needed.
  • Hand ladle molten metal from melting pot into ingot molds.
  • May inspect castings, using fixed gauges.
  • Maintains housekeeping of machines and dies during downtime and scheduled clean up times.
  • Quality awareness and compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Must complete other production and non-production tasks as needed.
  • Flexibility to work in other departments as needed to meet production demands.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong math, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 1 + year production labor experience
