Maintenance Engineer


We are seeking a self-directed and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer Assistant to join our team. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of machinery and large laundry processing equipment, ensuring that all repairs are performed correctly and promptly. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, while also ensuring that the plant operations run smoothly according to company policies and schedules.


Job Duties:

  • Self-Directed and Sense of Urgency: Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently while prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Machinery Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and large laundry processing equipment.
  • Timely Repairs: Ensure that all repairs are completed correctly and in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Resource Conservation: Ensure the shutdown of boilers, lights, air conditioning, water, and electrical equipment when not in use. Lock and secure unused areas.
  • Plant Startup and Shutdown: Ensure proper plant startup and shutdown procedures are followed in accordance with company policies and schedules.
  • Priority Management: Ensure that repair jobs are completed according to established priorities and on the day received, unless otherwise approved by the General Manager.
  • Material List Preparation: Prepare and complete material lists for repairs and improvements as necessary.
  • Enhancing Mechanical Systems: Ensure that all mechanical systems operate to enhance the quality, production, safety, and cost-effectiveness of our goods.
  • Record Keeping: Perform required record-keeping in a timely, neat, and accurate manner, and maintain maintenance software.
  • Chemical Handling: Ensure that all chemicals are prepared according to the appropriate wash formulas and in the appropriate quantities.
  • Quality Control: Follow quality control procedures and standards set by the Laundry and OSHA.
  • Safety and Drills: Administer fire drills, disaster drills, and report all safety hazards. Maintain a safe work environment and encourage a culture of safety among staff.
  • Teamwork: Encourage teamwork through cooperative interaction with engineering staff and other departments, maintaining a professional appearance through actions and dress.
  • Safe Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others, following established safety standards.
  • Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Review and maintain updated SDS as requested for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, taking necessary precautions.
  • Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Training: Conduct LOTO training, properly maintain, and ensure that machinery or equipment is stopped, isolated from all hazardous energy sources, and properly locked or tagged out.
  • Boiler Inspection: Perform daily boiler inspections to maintain safety and functionality.


Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in a similar maintenance role, performing building and mechanical tasks.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, boilers, machinery, and ideally industrial laundry equipment.
  • Strong industrial math, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication abilities including written and oral, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Lockout Tagout (LOTO) certification is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.


Wage and Benefits:

* Pay range $20*-23/hr based on qualifications.

* Must be available to work flexible hours, weekends and OT as needed due to maintenance requirements.
