Job Summary: Starting Wage $17.00-$19.00 Depending on Experience:

Test completed circuit boards and assemblies and troubleshoot units that have failed functional tests. Perform basic board level failure analysis and rework. Use a digital multi meter to diagnose the type of board level defects. Utilize all department test and equipment required to test and debug boards. Understand board schematics and test procedures in order to comprehend how the specific assembly functions to appropriately troubleshoot and rework failed circuit boards. 


Duties and Task Statements:

•       Must be able to troubleshoot basic test system failures.

•       Perform basic board level failure analysis and rework.

•       Use a digital multi meter to diagnose the type of board level defects.

•       Run system-level functional tests if available.

•       Understand the data collection requirements at test with regards to pass/fail/defect information and enter such information appropriately.

•       Perform basic preventative maintenance when instructed such as repining test fixtures.

•       Utilize all department test equipment required to test and debug boards (see equipment list below).

•       Interpret board fails to allow for accurate troubleshooting in order to warrant rework to the circuit board or a re-test providing the test fail was determined untrue.

•       Understand board schematics and test procedures in order to comprehend how the specific assembly functions to appropriately troubleshoot and rework failed circuit boards.

•      Rework defective circuit boards as required to ensure pass assemblies and warrant re-tests to avoid a non-conforming loss.

•      Remove solder shorts from faulty circuit boards to authorize a pin or functional re-test.

•      Additional duties as assigned.


Formal Interaction with Others: 

Interacts with staff members of the department, production floor personnel, Account Managers, Quality, and customers (when required). Communicates with the Test Group Leader, Supervisor and/or Department Manager to obtain direction, assistance, and communicate concerns. 


Work Environment: 

The work setting consists of a production environment with adequate lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate noise level. The work schedule consists of a five-day 40-hour workweek with overtime dependent on department needs. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Good oral and written communication skills are needed. Attention to detail, organizational skills, basic computer knowledge and problem-solving abilities are essential. Must be able to test and troubleshoot lower complex circuit cards on the in-circuit and/or functional testers, basic digital and analog. Computer literacy in Windows and DOS applications is preferred. Employee must work safely at all times and maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information.
