The Operations Management Assistant Intern program is designed to provide the individual with an opportunity to learn as much as possible in a limited time span (6-12 months) about our last mile distribution operations function (Interns will be assigned to work in one of two facilities in Las Vegas or Chicago). Hours of work will range between 10-20 hours per week. The operations function provides support to Marketing, Sales and Distribution in the areas of planning, transportation, customer service and warehousing. This involves managing workforce scheduling, fleet road readiness, capacity planning, dispatch operations, transportation operations, and personnel systems, as well as monitoring operations schedules and distribution patterns. The Intern may also be assigned one or more projects involving various subject matters. Duties & Responsibilities The OMA Intern will have exposure to similar experiences assigned to a full-time Operations Management Assistant (OMA), including one or more of the following responsibilities:

Playing a liaison role between delivery station operations and headquarters planning Tracking key indicators of performance in meeting customers’ requirements

Providing primary customer service support to customers

Load, unload, prepare, inspect, re-fuel and safely operate company-provided transport vehicles, including, but not limited to, Extended Cargo Vans and Freightliner Step Vans.

Deliver packages on varying routes to numerous addresses, both business and residential as required.

Follow strict safety standards on and off the road.

Interact with customers and the public in a professional and positive manner.

Use handheld technology to manage the delivery process, and vehicle safety & maintenance procedures.

Receive emergency and non-emergency phone calls from Delivery Associates and document all information, incidents, and issues.

Address Delivery Associate problems and requests by communicating directly with customer personnel and providing solutions.

Enter data in various systems and Google documents, maintain logs, record calls, activities and other information.

Prioritize phone calls according to urgency and importance.

Use a mobile phone and computer to manage communications with Delivery Associates and manage vehicles.

Monitor progress of Delivery Associates throughout the day and coordinate / prioritize package rescues, as needed.

Monitor, notify and confirm Delivery Associates hourly time records and reports according to policy.

Utilize GPS systems to monitor Delivery Associates and track vehicles. ? Safely drive and operate delivery vehicles periodically.

Other relevant project duties as required. At the completion of the internship, the intern will receive a formal evaluation of his/her contributions and performance. Interns will also get the opportunity to present their accomplishments to leaders of the operations function during a wrap-up event at our headquarters toward the end of the internship.
Qualifications

Junior, Senior or recent graduate with a major in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or Business.
