3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor

Rate: $80-105K depending on the experience...possibly can a little more
This is "hands on" position
Responsibilities:
- Direct, supervise and coordinate general plant maintenance activities, the maintenance and repair of machines, electrical systems, structures, facilities, and tool and die operations if applicable.
- Responsible for the quality of repairs, methods applications, scheduling of work, determination of malfunctions and extent and nature of repairs and type of materials or parts needed.
- Plan, organize and assign work to utilize skills, ability, and experience of available work force to the best advantages to obtain favorable repair cost, quality of workmanship and to prevent interruption of production schedules.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Production Control to schedule opportune time to make permanent repairs.
- Determine need for, and extent of repairs, check stock repair parts, requisition needed parts through purchase or work order and plan for and schedule repairs.
- Assist Engineering in planning for and supervising the preliminary installation operations, movement, and erection of new machines or for plant layout changeovers.
- Provide instruction, guidance, and supervision for the machining of repair parts, fabrication of details; erection, assembly and fitting of bearings, gear trains, alignment or working parts, etc.
- Supervise and coordinate the program of preventative maintenance as to its mechanical concepts, lubrication, and periodic inspection.
- Coordinate the activities of contractors, factory representatives and others engaged in repairing, overhauling, and rebuilding special or highly intricate and precise machinery.
- Participate in and coordinate company programs; e.g. communications, job training, vacation schedules, lock-out/tag-out, hazard communication, etc.
- Police use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
- Maintain an adequate and efficient work force in accordance will skill requirements and work levels, and schedule man hours.
- Maintain conformance with rules and regulations.
- Maintain adequate record keeping per department requirements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 20lbs and frequently life and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Travel is sometimes required.
- Operation of computer equipment frequently required.
- Operation of various types of mechanical tools including wrenches, gauges, etc.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This position will interface with all internal departments, both salaried and hourly employees, as well as outside vendors and contractors.
- Direct supervision given to maintenance technicians at facility.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Specialized training as a machinist or other trade is desirable.
- At least six years of prior general plant and machine maintenance experience.
- Previous experience as a maintenance supervisor.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as reports, training guides and policies.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with employees of organization.
- Ability to use Windows Office, Excel, and corporate e-mail.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts as it relates to position. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be a self-starter capable of operating with limited supervision.
