Controller

We’re seeking, on behalf of our client, a seasoned Controller to join their collaborative leadership team and guide the financial health of their organization. Based in West Sacramento, this pivotal role is responsible for shaping fiscal strategy, driving project profitability, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of daily accounting operations. As a trusted partner to the client’s executive team, you’ll combine strategic insight with hands-on execution to support firm-wide financial decisions. The ideal candidate will have extensive accounting experience, strong proficiency in Deltek Vision, and a solid background in the construction, engineering, or professional services industry.

Salary: $130K-$160K (DOE)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis to support strategic decision-making and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage billing, A/R, A/P, payroll journal entries, and general ledger functions; oversee month-end closings, balance sheets, and income statements.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP standards, manage tax filings, and maintain robust internal controls across all financial processes.
• Supervise a high-performing accounting team and serve as the primary financial liaison for internal departments and external vendors.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of executive-level, accrual-based accounting experience with deep knowledge of GAAP and applicable tax regulations.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with Deltek Vision or similar A/E ERP systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; prior experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical mindset, proactive team leadership, and willingness to work primarily on-site to support hands-on management responsibilities.
