We’re seeking a skilled and driven IT Technician (POS) to support a respected retail client in Sacramento. This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems, network infrastructure, LAN, and point-of-sale (POS) technology to ensure seamless operations.
Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with POS and scale tech support—preferably within a smaller retail or grocery setting. While back-end IT experience is a plus, the IT Manager is open to training the right candidate. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, depending on future staffing needs
Salary: $28.00-$30.00/hour (DOE). 6-month contract (potential for hire). Onsite in Sacramento. Must be available to start immediately.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently upholds all policies, procedures, and service standards, ensuring alignment with cooperative values.
- Oversees internal network systems, hardware, software, backups, and vendor contracts in partnership with the Managed Service Provider; ensures reliable tech support and disaster recovery planning.
- Manages equipment purchases, service orders, and invoices; coordinates special projects and escalates complex issues to the Managed Service Provider.
- Supervises department staff, designs training programs, sets performance expectations, and fosters a supportive, team-oriented work environment.
- Delivers and models prompt, friendly, and inclusive service that reflects the commitment to diverse communities and cooperative advantage.
- Maintains department documentation, attends meetings, contributes to reports, and supports other departments as needed based on business demands.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Over 2 years of hands-on IT experience, including technical support for point-of-sale (POS) systems; backed by a two-year technical degree in computer science or a related field
- Skilled in managing workstations, servers, and networks across Microsoft and Linux environments; experienced with enterprise-level software, firewalls, routers, and backup systems.
- Capable of performing basic arithmetic operations involving currency, measurements, and units relevant to IT and business operations.
- Familiar with Windows OS, Active Directory, LAN/WAN protocols, and Catapult POS systems; MCP, MCSE, and A+ certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated project management and vendor coordination skills; valid California driver’s license; interest in natural foods or cooperative business models.
