We are recruiting a Payroll Specialist to join a respected non-profit organization in the greater Sacramento area. This is a direct hire opportunity offering an outstanding benefits package, including 14 paid holidays, paid sick leave, generous PTO, and additional rewards.
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in payroll systems, and thorough knowledge of tax and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional attention to detail in their experience managing end to end payroll, as well familiarity with accounts payables and receivables.
Salary: 30-33/hour
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute timely and accurate payroll using software like ADP and QuickBooks, including wages, bonuses, deductions, and overtime.
- Maintain payroll and accounting records, ensure tax and regulatory compliance, and support audits by staying current with laws and policies.
- Address payroll discrepancies and employee concerns while upholding confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and department leaders to update employee data, support budgeting, and propose data-driven improvements.
- Generate payroll reports for leadership and conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and support financial analysis.
- Serve as the point of contact for HRIS/payroll providers, assist with strategic initiatives, and perform additional duties as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred;
- +2 years of payroll and accounting experience required.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; able to quickly learn proprietary software and apply it effectively.
- Demonstrates strong reasoning, mathematical, and logical thinking abilities with sound judgment and discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to collaborate effectively across teams and maintain professionalism.
- Highly organized with attention to detail; dependable attendance and flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
