We are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join an engineering firm with a strong national presence, expanding due to current growth. The newly created Senior Accountant position will play a crucial role in month-end financial reporting, managing reconciliations, and overseeing both AP and AR processes. Compensation: Up to $100,000 DOE. 100% onsite with potential to go hybrid.


The qualified candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, experience in project and cost accounting, and proficiency with NetSuite ERP.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate posting of all journal entries.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including cash and investments, to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition, expense recording, and accruals in compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring, adjusting, and reversing entries.
  • Analyze and resolve discrepancies, recommending process improvements as needed.
  • Utilize NetSuite to manage accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and maintaining organized documentation.
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP), including invoice processing, vendor payments, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage vendor payment processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments while verifying contract compliance and resolving discrepancies.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable (AR), including customer invoicing, payment applications, account reconciliations, and monitoring aging reports.
  • Follow up on outstanding balances and assist in resolving billing or payment discrepancies while maintaining customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and procurement, to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (required).
  • 4–6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a Senior Accountant or similar role.
  • Experience with project-based accounting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables); familiarity with other accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to think strategically.
