We are seeking a seasoned Accounting Manager to support a high-performing construction and engineering organization in Sacramento that is growing through mergers and acquisitions. This exceptional opportunity offers a direct path to a controller role for a proven leader.
As Accounting Manager, you will oversee daily operations including payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reporting. You’ll ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, manage internal controls, and coordinate audits and tax filings. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, while mentoring accounting staff and championing process improvements. Salary: $130K-$145K (DOE)- Hybrid- 2 days onsite plus flexible hours.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance and accuracy by managing internal controls, reviewing financial records, and coordinating audits and tax filings.
- Support strategic planning and variance analysis.
- Lead and develop accounting staff, driving process improvements and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous growth.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, with a solid foundation in financial principles and practices.
- +8 years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership and oversight of core accounting functions.
- Strong technical expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and audit procedures, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills, with the ability to lead projects and collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with ERP systems, CPA certification, and construction experience a plus
