ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN/FIELD INSPECTOR

LOCATION: Vancouver, WA
SALARY: $32.29 per hour
SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Temporary 3-6 months
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct field inspections of county construction projects.
- Assist with field surveying, bridge inspections, and GIS/mapping updates
- Collect data and perform calculations for engineers (e.g., quantities, fills/cuts)
- Complete daily field reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Perform quality tests on construction materials (compaction, strength, etc.)
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering technology or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 2–3 years’ experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or similar technical field
- Familiarity with engineering principles, construction methods, and safety protocols
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specs
- Proficiency in using surveying instruments, lab test equipment, and basic software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is split between a standard office environment and outdoor field settings
- Must be able to walk uneven terrain, collect physical samples, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to varying weather conditions during fieldwork
