Family Law Legal Assistant

LOCATION: Portland, OR

SALARY: $60k-68k/yr. DOE

SCHEDULE: Full-Time – Hybrid – 37.5-hour workweek


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide comprehensive support to a busy family law practice, including client communication, matter and project management, file organization (physical and electronic), docketing deadlines, and assisting with new client intake.
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and transmit legal documents and correspondence; electronically file pleadings and other documents with the court.
  • Handle a variety of administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing electronic records, including saving emails and incoming documents.
  • Support the Family Law Team by assisting with additional tasks as needed.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

  • 2+ years’ experience supporting a family law practice, with strong knowledge of court procedures and proficiency in State Court e-filing systems (OECI).
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with document management systems such as NetDocs or ZenCase (a plus).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with clients, attorneys, court staff, and other professionals.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks. 
  • Occasionally lift and carry files or boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Navigate a standard office environment, including accessing file cabinets, printers, and other office equipment.
