Mechanical Engineer Project Manager | Direct Hire

Nexeo HR is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support client-facing engineering projects from concept through build and installation. This role requires strong machine design capability, solid SolidWorks/CAD skills, and project management experience to plan work, coordinate fabrication, and ensure project execution meets scope, budget, and timeline goals.

Responsibilities

•   Design and support custom machines and automation equipment (machine design is a core competency).

•   Create, modify, and maintain SolidWorks models and assemblies (preferred CAD software).

•   Produce and check detailed drawings; apply and review GD&T.

•   Lead project execution activities, including scheduling, estimating, budget control, and coordination of fabrication.

•   Support or oversee project installations and occasional jobsite work (limited travel).

•   Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders.

•  Maintain safe work practices in industrial environments and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

•   5+ years of related mechanical engineering/design experience preferred (well-qualified candidates with less experience may be considered).

•   Machine Design experience is required (core requirement).

•   CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred): ability to view/create/modify parts & assemblies using good practices; produce/check drawings.

•   GD&T familiarity required.

•   Project management experience, including scheduling, estimating, budget control, supervision of fabrication, and managing installations.

•   Ability to work safely in industrial environments (OSHA or safety training is a plus).

•  Must participate in a drug screening program.

•   Strong work ethic; able to work with minimal supervision; strong verbal/written communication skills.

•   Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules (nights/weekends/holidays) when project demands require it.

•   No remote work (on-site role).

•   Travel less than 10%, generally limited and occasional.

•   Professional references required.

Pay 

$43.00–$58.00 per hour

Shift/Schedule

9/80 schedule with built-in OT every other week

Some flexibility with daily office hours
