Structural Designer – Steel/Concrete (Direct Hire)

Nexeo HR is hiring Structural Designers for direct-hire, onsite positions supporting large industrial and mission-critical facility design projects. These roles focus on producing high-quality structural drawings, detailing steel and concrete systems, coordinating with engineering teams, integrating subcontractor/vendor data, and ensuring compliance with codes, standards, BIM practices, and seismic design requirements. Candidates with experience in Tekla, BIM modeling, steel and reinforced-concrete detailing, and industrial facility design are strongly encouraged to apply. This role offers a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, relocation assistance, and long-term growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural design drawings for steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, cold-formed steel, and anchor bolts, including seismic detailing

• Generate BIM-based deliverables using Tekla and coordinate with engineering teams

• Interpret and integrate subcontractor and vendor information into design solutions

• Review as-built drawings, site conditions, and structural deliverables for accuracy and constructability

• Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, forecasts, and support change orders

• Participate in design reviews and resolve design-related issues

• Communicate complex technical topics to engineering leadership, clients, and vendors

• Support multi-discipline coordination across engineering, project, and construction teams

• Prepare documentation for project execution, quality requirements, and structural detailing standards

• For senior-level roles: mentor junior designers and lead technical discussions

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

• Must pass background check & drug screening (including marijuana)

• Must possess a Real ID–compliant driver’s license or state ID

• Proficiency in Tekla for steel and reinforced-concrete detailing

• Ability to independently perform detailed design for complex steel or concrete structures

• Knowledge of ACI detailing standards, steel detailing practices, and BIM workflows

• Strong understanding of structural engineering deliverables (drawings, specifications, etc.)

• Familiarity with construction methods for steel and concrete structures

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

• Proficiency with office automation tools

• Education requirements: High school diploma + 9–12+ years structural design experience, OR Bachelor’s degree + 1–10+ years experience, depending on level

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance

• Experience with facility projects

• Familiarity with USACE CAD Standards (ERDC/ITL TR-19-7)

• Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Whole Building Design Guide

• Previous Bechtel or Bechtel-supported project experience

• Ability to mentor junior designers (senior-level roles)

Pay

$95,000–$130,000 per year

Schedule

Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)
