Instrumentation and Controls Engineer | Ogden, UT

Nexeo HR is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support a major defense engineering and development program in Ogden, Utah. This role focuses on designing, integrating, and supporting complex control systems for large-scale infrastructure and facility operations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in control systems design, instrumentation development, and technical documentation—particularly within industrial, aerospace, or government environments. Responsibilities

• Design and develop instrumentation and control systems that meet project and industry standards.

• Create and review P&IDs, logic diagrams, block diagrams, and instrument data sheets using AutoCAD.

• Develop detailed control system designs for facility utilities such as HVAC, lighting, and power systems.

• Maintain and update instrument indexes, I/O lists, and control system specifications.

• Evaluate and approve vendor submittals to ensure compliance with technical requirements.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve seamless design integration.

• Support system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting during implementation.

• Ensure compliance with all security, safety, and quality regulations.

• Manage project deliverables, timelines, and documentation with precision.

Qualifications

Required:

• U.S. Citizenship (must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance).

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

• Must hold a Real ID–compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID at hire.

• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening (including marijuana).

• 10+ years of experience in control systems design, instrumentation, or facility systems engineering.

• High school diploma/GED with 15+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong understanding of control systems codes, standards, and best practices.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.

Preferred:

• Active Secret Clearance.

• EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Experience with SpecsIntact, SmartPlant 3D, and SmartSketch.

• Familiarity with secure facility design (SCIF, TEMPEST, ICD-705).

• Knowledge of cybersecurity in control system design.

• Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or similar projects.

Pay

$145,000 – $185,000 per year

Schedule

On-site | Day Shift | 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off)
