Senior Plant Designer (Direct Hire)

Nexeo HR is hiring a Senior Plant Designer for a direct-hire, onsite role supporting major mission-critical facility design and advanced industrial infrastructure. This position focuses on Plant Design & Piping (PD&P), 3D modeling, piping layouts, HVAC coordination, equipment arrangement, and multidisciplinary integration using SmartPlant 3D (S3D). Designers with experience in large industrial, nuclear, petrochemical, or complex engineered facilities are strongly encouraged to apply. This full-time onsite position offers a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, relocation assistance, and the opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant infrastructure modernization effort.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) drawings and documentation

• Produce 3D models and floor plan layouts using SmartPlant S3D

• Design piping, HVAC, and equipment layouts for large industrial facilities

• Coordinate model activities and resolve clashes across engineering disciplines

• Support model accuracy, space management, and equipment arrangement

• Ensure all PD&P designs comply with OSHA, NFPA, IBC, ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, and related codes

• Conduct quality checks for accuracy, compliance, and constructability

• Participate in constructability reviews and technical discussions

• Develop plant design systems for drainage, foundations, steel detailing, and utility routing

• Prepare material requisitions, bid evaluations, and design estimates

• Support and coordinate the work of engineers, designers, and drafters

• Communicate technical challenges and recommend solutions to leadership

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship (required for facility access)

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

• Experience using SmartPlant 3D

• High school diploma + 9+ years of plant/piping design experience

or Associate’s degree in Engineering/CAD + 7+ years of experience

• Ability to pass background check and drug screening (including marijuana)

• Real ID–compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID required

Pay

$95,000 – $128,000 per year
