Facilities Project Engineer – Mechanical Designer
Nexeo is hiring Mechanical Designers to join our team in Ogden, UT. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects, preparing 2D CAD drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and maintaining component data while collaborating with engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to project schedules.
This onsite position offers a 9x80 work schedule, paid overtime, and relocation support for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
• Prepare 2D CAD Intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from sketches, marked-up prints, and engineering notes
• Review drawings and documents prepared by others to ensure compliance with drafting standards, project procedures, discipline requirements, and applicable national standards
• Maintain data integrity for component lists to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability across project databases
• Meet project schedule requirements while delivering high-quality design work
• Collaborate with engineers and project team members to resolve design issues and improve processes
• Apply industry best practices and company standards in all design deliverables
Additional Responsibilities for Senior-Level Designers:
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance
• Lead complex design tasks and provide oversight on project deliverables
• Review and approve design outputs for compliance with internal and national standards
Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
• Valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID
• Ability to complete pre-employment background check and drug screening, including marijuana testing
• High School diploma or GED with relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Experience with design/drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, PDS2D, PDS3D, or SmartPlant P&ID
• Experience working in a team environment to resolve design issues and improve processes
Experience by Level:
• Junior Mechanical Designer: 2–6 years of relevant experience (depending on education level)
• Senior Mechanical Designer: 6–10+ years of relevant experience (or higher with Bachelor’s degree)
Desired Qualifications
• Familiarity with component databases and configuration management
• Knowledge of industry standards for mechanical drafting and instrumentation design
• Ability to lead or mentor others (Senior-level)
Pay
$95,000 – $125,000 DOE
