On-Call Spanish Closed Captioning Operator

The Broadcast and Events Division of the Church is seeking an On-Call Spanish Closed Captioning Operator to assist during major events such as General Conference, Worldwide Devotionals, Music and the Spoken Word, and other large-scale broadcasts where Spanish closed captioning is provided.

This role is well-suited for students, parents, or others who need to work around typical business-hour schedules, as shifts occur about once a month and are generally four hours long—except for General Conference, which involves longer shifts.

Church Employment Eligibility

To help the Church accomplish its religious mission, all employees must:

•   Hold a current temple recommend (if endowed), or

•   Be temple worthy, as certified by an ecclesiastical leader (if not endowed)

Responsibilities

•  Provide Spanish closed captioning for large Church broadcasts as needed.

•   Operate a computerized captioning system.

Qualifications

•   Fluency in Spanish, both spoken and written; native-speaking ability preferred.

•   Willingness and ability to work flexible shifts, as most events occur on nights and weekends.

•   Experience in closed captioning or stenography is a strong plus, but not required.

•   Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

•   Ability to type 50+ words per minute is a plus.

•   Strong reading, spelling, vocabulary, and editing skills.

•   Ability to respond quickly to changing conditions.

•   High attention to detail.

Schedule

Most events occur on nights and weekends.
