Section 1. Position Purpose
This position consists of clerical work, which involves moderately complex work methods and problems.
Section 2. Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements

Graduation from high school or GED with courses in typing supplemented by at least some successful diversified office experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge of business English, punctuation, arithmetic, and spelling; modern office practices and procedures; recordkeeping methods, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of departmental regulations and policies.

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with minimum instructions, adhere to prescribed routines and practices, maintain records, and to make reports requiring accuracy.

Ability to work well with others, and to assist cooperatively and courteously.

Skill in the application of modern office techniques and practices and the use and care of office machines and equipment.
Section 3. Decision Making and Problem Solving
Problems are often not well defined and are nonrecurring, but may bear some resemblance to problems encountered earlier. Precedent, policy, and operating standards offer some guidance, but substantial latitude and judgment is required in determining the appropriate course of action. Creativity and resourcefulness are often required to produce effective solutions.
Decision-making is typically choosing a preferred solution from a set of alternatives. Considerable judgment may be required in the interpretation of new rules and regulations and the application of those rules and regulations. Problem solving often requires creativity and persistence.
Section 4. Authority and Responsibility

Types from copy, rough draft, or general instructions specialized reports or other materials frequently requiring independent action and discretion on problems encountered.

Maintains payroll and records.

Types form letters, correspondence, etc. based on information from records and files.

Independently prepares rough draft reports, narratives, and statistical tabulations.

Answers routine letters.

Processes documents requiring office procedural knowledge.

Maintains files.

Reviews documents for sufficiency, obtains necessary signatures, and routes appropriately.

Gives information in person or by telephone to other departments or plants, applying significant knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.

Performs other work as required.

Section 5. Working Conditions

Required to have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20.

Employee must be able to hear and speak.

Employee must have full range of motion to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop or kneel.

Normal Working Hours/Days:Mon - Fri; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; 1/2 hr meal break
