As a key member of our Finance team, the Senior Accountant actively engages in full cycle accounting functions supporting the U.S. operations. This position works collaboratively with internal and external clients to ensure an exceptional client experience. Success in this role requires a high level of competence in analyzing and attention to detail. This hands-on role will give the professional an opportunity to build on their accounting and leadership skills as we continue to expand our U.S. operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
FULL CYCLE ACCOUNTING:
? Work with Controller in preparation of complex and non-standard journal entries.
? Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
? Perform a variety of financial tasks from start to finish; from data entry to reporting to financial analysis.
? Assist operations with coding and completing purchase orders.
? Prepare and file state sales tax returns for all respective jurisdictions.
? Prepare regular cash flow forecasts to assist with general cash management of U.S. operations.
MONTH END:
? Maintain a timely and complete month-end process that aligns with corporate reporting deadlines.
? Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations including sub ledger to general ledger reconciliations (AR,Fixed Assets, AP), share capital and intercompany reconciliations.
? Prepare monthly working paper file with supporting documentation.
? Prepare key financial accruals for a timely and accurate close.
? Compile and provide periodic reports as needed to support key operating functions.
ADDITIONAL TASKS:
? Maintain adequate supporting records for U.S. activities.
? Ensure compliance with CSox control framework as outlined by corporate accounting team.
? Foster an environment that promotes process improvement and continual development of the accounting team.
? Ad-hoc analysis and queries.
? Lead and assist with special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
? Minimum 3 years of experience in related role or equivalent, minimum 7 years total accounting experience.
? Experience within the oilfield service industry preferred.
? Big Four experience and/or a CPA a plus.
? Exceptionally organized with extraordinary attention to detail in a timeline driven environment.
? Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including managers, team members, and customers.
? Knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and processes.
? Computer literate with high aptitude for learning new software applications.
? Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
