    Responsibilities include:

    • Working with the Corporate Digital Marketing Manager on email marketing opt-in and registration programs designed to grow the company’s total digital audience.

    • Manage various email campaigns, including the template designs, calls-to-action, and content used in our email sends across the 29 local markets.

    • Working to develop the needed creative offerings to ensure the features and benefits of each product is communicated to its targeted potential buyers.

    • Work with the marketing team on audience segmentation and the creation of user engagement journeys with the news media products and services.

    • Look at current audience trends and potential new audience opportunities with the creation of new email newsletters as well as general email marketing campaigns to support our content marketing initiatives.

    • Segment lists based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions (content downloads, site page visits, etc.).

    • Measure results and optimize the lead nurturing workflows for these segments to convert leads into customers.

    • Work to minimize list decay and unsubscribes while increasing the productivity of our email sends.

    • Develop documentation and road maps for processes, A/B tests, and promotions that succeed through email.

    • Working with the Audience Development team on increasing paid digital subscriptions and subscription revenue, including supporting the 29 local markets on meeting their individual paid subscription goals.

    • Monitoring and reporting on the success of both corporate-wide email marketing initiatives and the performance of locally implemented campaigns, including compiling weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports on campaigns and consumer segments.

    • Assist in the HTML production of our newsletters.

    • QA emails before deployment: proofread content, ensure appropriate tracking codes are in place, and test links, dynamic content, and email rendering across devices and platforms.

    • Monitor and process unsubscribe requests.

    • Become a power user on our email system and tools.

    • Collaborate with the Email Product Manager on how to get the most out of our email tools and help train local marketing and audience development team members on best practices.

    • Provide advice to the local markets on CanSpam and additional legal practices surrounding the email marketing space.

    • Work with Corporate Digital Marketing Manager and Product Managers to generate custom reports.

    • Staying in touch with the industry’s best practices and using the practices to improve the productivity of programs used in the digital arena.

    • Supporting, communicating and adhering to each of the company’s mission, vision and core values, to include the Code of Conduct.

    • Other duties may be assigned as needed to ensure success for each of our thirty Newspapers.

     

    Qualifications:

    o Degree in Marketing, Advertising or similar field is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary background and skills to accomplish responsibilities.

    o 3-4 years’ experience with email marketing and ESPs, lead nurturing, marketing automation, and web analytics.

    o Excellent understanding of email marketing concepts and metrics such as Sender Score, deliverability, and sender reputation.

    o Proficient with HTML and CSS for email marketing and marketing automation.

    o Familiar with analytics tools including Adobe Marketing Cloud (Omniture) and able to derive meaning from data through A/B testing and email optimization.

    o Experience working with cross-functional teams and proven knowledge of a broad range of digital marketing disciplines, such as SEO/SEM and social media.

    o Prior experience with a media or publishing company preferred.

    o Savvy in state-of-the-art online technologies and web publishing.

    o Must be available and willing to work extended hours as occasionally needed to meet business needs.
