Position Summary

The Assistant Director supports the Executive Director in leading the daily operations, compliance, and strategic growth of early childhood programs. This role blends administrative leadership with a deep commitment to inclusive, family-centered care. Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Support

  • Assist in overseeing classroom operations, staffing, and curriculum implementation.
  • Provide coaching and support to teaching teams, fostering a culture of reflection and growth.
  • Monitor developmental practices, inclusive programming, and individualized support plans.
  • Ensure alignment with our mission, values, and strategic goals.


Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Support licensing, CACFP, and regulatory compliance through documentation, audits, and staff training.
  • Maintain accurate child and staff records, health protocols, and enrollment data.


Family & Community Engagement

  • Serve as a warm, professional point of contact for families and community partners.
  • Coordinate family communications, events, and outreach initiatives.
  • Cultivate partnerships that enhance programming and resource networks.


Administrative Operations

  • Support scheduling and staff onboarding.
  • Assist with budget tracking, supply management, and vendor coordination.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Director.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Associate’s or higher preferred.)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting, with leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of TN licensing regulations, CACFP, and inclusive care practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to equity, resilience, and community-centered care.
