We are seeking a highly organized, motivational, and experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our fast-paced distribution center. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader focused on efficiency, safety, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Warehouse Manager in planning, directing, and executing daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of warehouse staff (including temporary workers) to achieve performance and accuracy targets.
- Assist in scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and addressing employee relations issues in collaboration with HR.
- Ensure the highest level of inventory accuracy through the effective execution of cycle counts, physical inventory, and troubleshooting discrepancies using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Enforce all company and regulatory safety policies (e.g., OSHA), ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the workflow and recommend/implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Act as the on-site problem solver, resolving day-to-day operational, equipment, and system issues swiftly to minimize disruption.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory/lead experience in a high-volume distribution or warehouse environment.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage a diverse team, driving accountability and positive morale.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with team members, management, and external partners.
- Exceptional critical thinking and troubleshooting skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. and working on the warehouse floor for the majority of the shift.
