Our valued manufacturing partner in Chicago, IL is looking for experienced Machine Operators to join their growing team! 


Position Overview

  • As a Machine Operator, you will work on one of three shifts (day, afternoon, or night), ensuring accurate, efficient plating operations. Your focus is to maintain production quality and uphold safety standards throughout the plating process.
  • Set up, operate, and tend plating machines (electroplating, barrel, rack, electroless) for coating parts with metals such as chromium, zinc, nickel, copper, tin, silver, or gold. 
  • Immerse workpieces into plating and cleaning baths for precise durations. 
  • Monitor machine performance, including amperage, voltage, temperature, agitation, bath chemistry, and bath levels; make real-time adjustments as needed. 
  • Inspect plated parts for defects—air bubbles, uneven thickness, adhesion issues—and re-work or reject as necessary. 
  • Measure plating thickness using micrometers, calipers, or other precision gauges to ensure compliance with specifications. 
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on plating equipment and process tanks to minimize downtime. 
  • Maintain accurate production logs, bath makeup, solution strengths, and shift hand-off notes. 
  • Follow all safety procedures, including handling of acids, cyanide-based baths, electrical hazards, and proper PPE use. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or prior plating/manufacturing experience helpful. 
  • Basic math and chemistry skills to calculate plating bath chemistry and adjust process parameters. 
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to access and monitor dials, gauges, and controls. 
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to work as part of a rotating-shift team. 

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced industrial environment handling metal parts that may require hoisting or machine loading. 
  • Exposure to chemicals, wet environments, and electrical equipment; adherence to stringent safety protocols is mandatory.

Pay Range 

  • $16.90 - $17.90, based on shift 
  • We are willing to train candidates 
  • 40 hours per week 
  • Get paid weekly
