We're hiring a General Manager to lead a brand-new industrial plant in Kern County, CA! This is a Direct Hire Opportunity.


Location: Kern County, CA | Compensation: $175,000–$225,000 + Performance Bonus

Position Overview

This is a strategic leadership role for a plant operations expert with proven experience in large-scale industrial startups. You will oversee all aspects of plant operations—from initial project execution to full-scale production—while building and leading a high-performing team. The right candidate will bring a strong balance of operational expertise, financial acumen, and leadership capability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the startup and full commissioning of a new facility, including managing contractors, equipment installation, and project milestones.

  • Oversee daily operations, including production, safety, maintenance, compliance, and budget performance.

  • Implement systems and best practices to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between plant operations and executive leadership.

  • Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and environmental regulations.

  • Represent the organization in the community and with regulatory agencies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • 7+ years of industrial plant operations and startup experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong track record in project management, facility operations, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Familiarity with ERP and CMMS systems.
  • Background in recycling, manufacturing, or environmental services is highly desirable.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills


Additional Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working in variable outdoor conditions and navigating physically demanding environments.

  • Ability to work extended hours during startup and critical operations phases.

  • Travel required during initial onboarding (6–9 months).
