TEKLA 3 D MODELING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED!!


SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Steel Detailer is to produce the detailed drawings for the fabricators and steel erectors. The Steel Detailer will check create associated bills of material.

$50-$60k


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Regular and predictable on-site job attendance

· Prepares the detailed plans, drawings, files and other documents for the manufacture and erection of steel members used in the construction of Company products

· Coordinates with architects, engineering groups and general contractors to create shop drawings from their design drawings

· Creates and submits any request for information (RFI) in a timely manner on design issues and then submit for review and approval

· Maintains accurate records and supporting documents of all changes

· Partners with the Project Managers and Director of Operations to resolve any fabrication issues

· Reports progress on anticipated completion dates to ensure scheduling is maintained

· Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with customers and related parties

· Complies with Quality Control standards and the company Procedure Manual

· Ensures all business is conducted following company set values as described in company handbook

· Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications

· Contributes ideas for new designs or improving existing designs

 Updates drawings and implements design changes


ESSENTIAL WORK SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Must have the ability to comply with all AISC and AWS industry standards for detailing

· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications and welding symbols

· Must be able to visualize a 2 dimensional drawing in 3 dimensions

· Must have a working knowledge of steel fabrication, welding methods, procedures, and quality control

· Must have an understanding of shop fabrication production process

· Must be proficient with 3D modeling software, Tekla or SDS/2 (Tekla is preferred)

· Must be well organized, a self-starter and have a strong work ethic

· Must possess strong ability to gather and analyze data to make sound decisions to meet deadlines

· Must be able to work as a team to achieve results while maintaining the company motto “Where quality is our Character”

· Must possess the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing

· Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a variety of projects/programs

· Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and maintain superb accuracy

· Must possess exceptional customer service skills

· Must have strong math and problem solving skills

· Must have the ability to learn and use basic computer office programs and fabrication programs to complete documents as required

· Must maintain confidentiality, especially related to sensitive company, customer, and other generally private information


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates off site as well as a professional office environment. The employee will constantly use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally the employee is exposed to cold, hot and wet weather.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years of experience in the structural steel detailing is required. Certification or technical education and/or 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing is preferred.
