Role Summary

A Produce Broker serves as the intermediary between growers, wholesale distributors, and retail/foodservice buyers. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong industry relationships, negotiating pricing and contracts, and managing the entire lifecycle of produce sales from procurement to delivery. The broker ensures that both suppliers and customers achieve mutual value while optimizing revenue and market presence.


This is a full-time direct hire opportunity with pay ranging from $75,000 - $80,000 plus commission.


Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development:
  • Identify new sales opportunities; expand the customer base across retail, distribution, and foodservice sectors.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with growers, wholesalers, and buyers; act as the primary point-of-contact.
  • Product Procurement:
  • Source produce from growers and negotiate pricing, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
  • Sales & Negotiation:
  • Sell produce to existing and prospective customers; set competitive pricing aligned with market trends.
  • Logistics Oversight:
  • Coordinate transportation, delivery schedules, and logistics to ensure fresh and timely product fulfillment.
  • Market & Trend Analysis:
  • Monitor local and regional market conditions, pricing fluctuations, and competitor actions.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate sales, procurement, and pricing records; prepare regular updates for management.


Qualifications

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years in produce sales, brokerage, or related agricultural commerce.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, and organization skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CRM tools).
  • Attributes:
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or in a team.
