LOUISVILLE, KY
A large Metal Manufacturer in the Newburg area is in need of multiple experienced Punch Press Operators on first shift. This is a full time temp to hire position. Schedule is Monday to Thursday - 4 pm to 2:30 am.
Position overview
A press operator runs computer-controlled machines that cut, shape and design various materials. Their main duties include troubleshooting machines for any malfunctions or irregularities, fixing machine parts as needed to ensure they operate properly and conducting quality checks on the machines.
Role and Responsibilities
- Wears all required safety equipment and ensures area and environment is safe
- Operates, monitors and helps maintain machine/equipment (press, welders, cranes, forklifts, etc.)
- Feeds equipment and tooling
- Performs or assists in production changeovers
- Move parts and products to appropriate positions
- Perform daily operational checks to ensure safety
- Perform quality checks and verify quality (first, middle, and last off’s, PQI books, SPC etc.)
- Assist quality and maintenance personnel with issues related to production
- Conduct daily cleaning of work area
- Repair product as required
- Identify and document problems, set goals, tracks progress and works with teams to implement solutions
- Report issues and concerns to Team Leader or Supervisor
- Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems
- Watch for potential concerns or issues
- Train other operators as required
- Be self-directed and encourage continuous improvement through involvement and input
- Meet production efficiencies and maintain quality checks
- Identify containers of parts with required information
- Enter production information into company computer system
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Always Maintain focus and attention on press while in operation
- Package materials as required
- Maintain accurate count of parts produced
- Perform basic material handling duties if required
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications, Skills & Education Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and safety guidelines
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Maintain a good attendance record
- Ability to work overtime as needed
